Forced prostitution in Groningen

I wanted to draw attention again to an (somewhat old article) in De Pers: "Toename vrouwenhandel in Groningen" (December 30th 2008) [Increase of women trafficking in Groningen] . You can read about an earlier post on my blog about this issue over here.

It's about forced prostitution often of Bulgarian women. Police chief Oscar Dros said that (originally in Dutch):
"The causes of the perpetrator and victim role must be made more clear. We notice now for example that victims sometimes don't realize that it's unacceptable what is happening to them. Some girls respond with surprise that the police makes such a point about their situation. Then you really have to explain that it is modern slavery what is happening to them."
